This presentation pulls together works from six artists that explore painting as a medium using multiple different approaches and exploring the possibilities of this artform; whether it is the thick and hedonistic brushstrokes of Jason Martin, or the abstract expressionism of Ina Gerken, or just simply the fascination towards painting that has inspired Jacob Hashimoto to create his iconic kite-works. Tiina Pyykkinen’s reflective, polychromatic, site-specific works do not let the viewer off easily, where the expressive power of Harri Puro’s works capture the attention of the viewer. Aaron Elvis Jupin's paintings involve the use of stenciling, cutting, and masking; they often push dimension and illusion into enigmatic, noir territory, reminding the viewer that images tend to be manipulative.
