Tomek works with multiple overlapping layers of colour. A characteristic feature and element of his production are the strokes spread over the pure colour slides of the base layer, which seem to float in the colour space. This captures the viewer's attention and makes them wonder whether the expressive and energizing lines will burst out of the canvas, reaching the actual world. The tradition of abstract expressionism also subtly connects with Tomek's background in graffiti and street art. References to tags and letters made by others can be found in his pieces. At the same time, Tomek's works highlight the aesthetics of manual work, which the artist intuitively draws out of the immediacy, from the stroke of the line.
The sense of freedom, urbanity and illegality of the graffiti art background, as well as a characteristic interest in subversive activities are incorporated into seemingly spontaneous pieces. As often with also Urban or Street Art, Tomek strives to leave the interpretation of his works to the viewer and seeks for personal subjectivity. The artist has the ability to turn the mural-like features into pieces representing a heritage yet creating distinctively abstract art. However, the characteristic quality of the anonymity of the graffiti maker is here replaced by the notion of an artist engaging with the audience in an open and receptive manner.
Tomek's works have been exhibited in solo exhibitions, including at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris,
Cologne and Berlin. His works are in the collections of the French Société Générale Bank, the MIMA Museum in Brussels and the Gothenburg Art Museum, Sweden. Tomek has published books, including a photography book ‘Guten Tag’, published in 2023, which presents Tomek's graffiti works alongside series of poems by Skubb.
