Makasiini Contemporary was excited to participate in the inaugural Atlanta Art Fair, where we proudly showcased the visionary works of Johannesburg-based South African artist Nelson Makamo.
Born in 1982 in Modimolle, Limpopo, Makamo has gained international acclaim for his powerful charcoal and oil paintings that challenge and reshape global perceptions of African children.
Makamo’s portraits are not just images; they are powerful narratives that embody the strength, determination, and hope of African youth. His unique style, which combines mixed media with a distinctive mark-making technique, creates a visual language that is both innovative and universally compelling.
